TRUE AX9 Junior Goalie Stick
£149.99New for 2020 is True’s flagship goal stick, the AX9. It uses all the same technologies seen in their player stick department such as their FiberShield, BRT+, Axenic and SmartPly to create a lightweight, balanced yet durable stick. The AX9 features a braided rib throughout the paddle for a thinner, lighter paddle that is more durable than that of previous A series goal sticks. A low kick profile gives a feel similar to that of a foam core when playing the puck giving goalies a stick that promotes quick releases and improves puck feel and control. Finally, a redesigned balance point that sits right near the shoulder creates a lighter stick that is 5% lighter than its predecessor. Shaft Construction The shaft is made using a combination of True’s FiberShield and Axenic technologies. FiberShield technology which is an array of nanoparticles distributed throughout the shaft for improved balance and durability. Axenic technology creates a compression molded shaft that gives more direct puck feel and better control. Paddle Construction True uses the same BRT+ technology seen in their AX9 player stick in the paddle of the AX9 goal stick. It is meant to make for a stronger yet lighter paddle with a more durable construction. As seen in the shaft, the paddle uses the same FiberShield technology to improve balance and durability over previous A series sticks. Blade Construction/Stiffness Using FiberShield, BRT+ and SmartPly technologies, the blade of the AX9 goal stick is a great balance of thin, stiff and durable. SmartPly is used to optimize the angles of the fibers being laid down in order to create a higher impact strength while keeping weight down. Graphics The AX9 stick comes in either a black paddle with white lettering or a white with black lettering. Both sticks feature a light blue spotted grip pattern and a solver shaft. Grip A unique speckled grip pattern is used on the shoulder of the AX9 goal stick. It provides a solid feeling grip when holding the stick but is slick enough to allow for quick poke check or puck playing motions where your blocker needs to be able to slip away. Blade Patterns, Paddle Lengths, Stick Lengths, Weight, Level of Play Coming only in the MC curve (mid curve, similar to P34) and a 21” paddle; the True AX9 goal stick appeals to the junior sized goaltender looking for that elite level, lightweight stick that retains good durability. -
TRUE Catalyst 5X Senior Goalie Stick
£149.99With their new Catalyst line of sticks, True wanted to make a stick that was more responsive, more durable, lighter and more usable. They packed a lot of tech into the Catalyst 5X goal stick with a redesigned flex point, improved impact strength and increased durability all while making it one of the lighter midline sticks on the market. Shaft Construction The 5X uses a square corner, double concave shaft which is made using a new Precision Laminate Design layering system. This construction method angles the carbon layers in a way that increases the strength and durability of the shaft while reducing the overall shaft weight. Paddle Construction The Catalyst 5X sticks use a newly redesigned braided rib technology throughout the paddle and blade. These braided sleeves work to provide better vibration damping on shots and when playing the puck along with increased durability and a less blade-heavy feel. The 5X also has a new mid kick profile that loads easily and offers better control of the puck at release. Blade Construction/Stiffness Just like the paddle, the blade uses the same braided rib technology to build a lightweight, stiff and durable blade that has great pop when shooting puck and making saves. Graphics True keeps their graphics simple on the Catalyst sticks with a choice of a black or white base with a yellow accent running down the paddle and up the shaft. Grip Straying from the splatter paint style grip seen on the AX line of sticks, the Catalyst line uses a simplified grip hexagonal grip paired with a steeper shoulder that gives the stick a more controlled feel in the stance and when stick handling. Blade Patterns, Paddle Lengths, Stick Lengths, Weight, Level of Play The 5X Intermediate comes in a 23” and 24” paddle length with a single curve from retail being the MC2 curve most similar to a Bauer P34 which is a mid curve with an open face. The 5X Intermediate comes in at 580g making it one of the lighter midline sticks on the market today perfect for that performance level goalie looking for a lightweight, durable option.
